One silent night, the lock woke the key and complained, "I work hard every day to guard the door for our master, yet it is you whom he loves most, always keeping you by his side. I truly envy you!" The key replied indignantly, "You stay at home every day in such comfort and ease! Meanwhile, I follow the master everywhere, braving sun and rain, which is so exhausting. I envy you even more!" One day, wanting to experience a life of ease, the key decided to hide itself. When the master returned home and found the key missing, he grew furious and smashed the lock, tossing it into the trash. After entering the house, the master found the key and said angrily, "The lock is broken; what use are you now?" With that, he threw the key into the trash as well. Meeting again in the garbage heap, the lock and the key lamented, "Our tragic end today is because we failed to recognize each other's value and contributions in the past. Instead, we were always envying what the other had, constantly calculating, doubting, and jealous of one another."
