I am often asked: What is the meaning of life? So far, my answer has been: As long as life has flavor, the meaning doesn't matter. The sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy are all the flavors of life; tasting them and struggling through them is quite interesting... Perhaps someone would counter: What if my life has no flavor at all? Well... if there is no flavor, then meaning probably cannot remedy anything. — Cai Kangyong, "Kind Messages to a Cruel Society"
Who will help me share the bitterness of life? Who will help me bear the pain of love? The joys and sorrows of life accompany my growth; why is my path in life so bumpy?
Not everyone can do what they want without hesitation. In fact, most of us, even as grown adults, still have dreams. However, people often stop us, acting as "experienced elders" to tell us that our cherished ideals are wrong, and then, under the guise of "doing it for our own good," they map out a grand future for us. Perhaps they are right, but what is "right" is not always what we want. Their planned life might look beautiful and smooth, but when we reach middle age and think back to that naive yet passionate dream, we can only let out a sigh.
Life requires balance, and happiness requires feeling. Maintain a peaceful mindset and a simple way of living. Facing life, some play it with wisdom, some face it with laughter, some accept it blankly, and some are wordlessly stingy. A single word, a single person, facing the world—not every word will change the value of thought; everyone has their own destiny.
