Conditional interpretation of value based on possession.

Once, there was a wise teacher with many students. One student asked, "Teacher, can you tell me about my value?" The teacher presented a stone and said, "Before I tell you the value of life, help me with one thing. Take this stone to the market, but no matter how much anyone offers, you must not sell it."

The student took the stone to the market. Someone offered 2 yuan. Soon, others noticed the stone's clarity and began bidding higher, driving the price up to 10 yuan. The student returned happily, "Teacher, your stone sold for 10 yuan!" The teacher replied, "Now, take it to the gold market, and again, do not sell it no matter the price."

At the gold market, an elder recognized the stone's quality and declared it a treasure. Competition flared, and the price reached 10,000 yuan. Excited, the student ran back: "Teacher, I can't believe your stone is worth 10,000 yuan!" The teacher smiled, "Finally, take it to the jewelry market, but do not sell it regardless of the offer."

In the jewelry market, someone offered 100,000 yuan immediately. In the blink of an eye, the price soared to 300,000 yuan. Resisting the immense temptation, the student returned to the teacher and said, "You possess such a treasure! My task is done; now tell me the stone's true value." The teacher said, "This stone is indeed priceless; it contains precious jade, but because you did not recognize its worth, it was worth at most 10 yuan in your hands."

Inspiration: In reality, every person is like a piece of jade. We must examine ourselves with the same scrutiny a jeweler uses on gemstones. Some polish themselves and transform into precious jade, becoming more valuable with every refinement; others cling to their raw stone all their lives without ever polishing it, remaining nothing more than an inexpensive rock. This parable prompts us to reflect: What is the essence of life's value? What is the key to realizing it? And how do you perceive your own worth?
