An elderly American couple once participated in many "ugly face" contests, winning the championship more than twenty times. From media reports, their intentionally contorted facial expressions not only bring smiles to people's faces but also earn applause for their courage to abandon their image.
When asked by reporters why they could win so many times in a row, the gentleman calmly replied, "Winning first place does not stem from absolute self-confidence, but because we approach every competition with a calm mind, Treating it merely as a fun game!"
His answer may seem simple, but maintaining such a mindset through so many competitions is truly remarkable. It is especially impressive that after their first win, they continued to view success and failure with such equanimity.
Life is much the same. Throughout our journeys, we inevitably encounter setbacks and difficulties, as well as moments of triumph and confidence. However, these are merely interludes and fragments within the broader tapestry of life.
Perhaps this couple has truly understood the essence of life and found its true joy. This is why, after numerous victories, they can remain composed, gracefully navigating through gains and losses to live a fulfilling life.
