Sometimes I long for the days of childhood, a time free from worries and responsibilities. In our youth, we fail to cherish; in middle age, we struggle to let go. It is only in our twilight years that we realize some things are unremarkable when fully possessed, while others are found to be infinitely precious only after they are lost forever.
Life is but a few decades, flowing like a stream. We pass through a naive childhood, an energetic adolescence, a passionate youth, and finally reach a calm middle age. Looking back at the ups and downs, the wide and narrow paths, and the storms weathered along the way, one cannot help but be overwhelmed with emotion.
Those seemingly accidental moments of brilliance are actually the result of long-term accumulation and gradual release.
Excellence is a habit, just as laziness is. Aside from our innate temperament, most of our qualities are formed through experience. Our every word and action is the result of daily accumulation. Therefore, we should strive to make excellence a habit from this moment on, until it becomes our second nature.
