In a remote and isolated town, residents could only listen to two radio stations. The first station specialized in celebrity news, call-in shows, or popular music charts, boasting a very high listenership. The second station was a professional weather station with only a small group of listeners.
One night, the weather station issued an emergency warning: a powerful tornado was about to hit the town at midnight, and they urged the residents to evacuate immediately. This small group of listeners quickly organized themselves—some went to find the mayor, some went into the streets banging drums to warn people, and others called the first radio station, pleading with them to broadcast the tornado warning to save their lives. However, the mayor claimed that the town had never experienced a tornado and dismissed the report as a fabrication by the weather station to boost ratings. Those banging drums were dismissed as madmen. Meanwhile, the first radio station refused to interrupt their live celebrity interview to broadcast this life-or-death news. Ultimately, the town was leveled by the tornado, and later passersby had no idea that a town had ever existed on that spot.
