Ancient wisdom says, "Ten feet of ice does not form in a day, nor does a drop of water wear away a stone overnight." While true, how many people can remain calm in the face of all challenges? I do not know, but I know I cannot give up.
Watching the stack of books on my desk grow higher while I am still struggling with math problems makes me feel anxious, lost, and confused. I desperately want to figure out how to catch up with my peers. My weak subjects are English and math. Regarding English grammar, I am almost a complete novice. Even when I struggle to follow the teacher's lessons, I try to study grammar books during my evening self-study sessions. I realize now that if I had invested more time in grammar during middle school, my current situation wouldn't be so difficult.
I once kept a Narcissus plant. Knowing it is a beautiful aquatic plant, I took great care of it. However, after several months, it still hadn't bloomed; only the leaves grew longer. I began to think my plant would never flower and almost gave up on caring for it. To my surprise, the Narcissus finally bloomed, releasing a delicate fragrance...
I think to myself: even though I am exhausted from my studies right now, I firmly believe that just as that flower bloomed, I will also achieve success!
After the weekly exams, I realized I had forgotten much of what I previously learned, making it difficult to keep up in class. The math teacher's pace is very fast; often, before I fully grasp one problem, the next one has already been explained. Due to the lack of time, I can only focus on math during my evening study sessions. For instance, one of the problems assigned by the teacher recently was one that very few students in my class could solve.
English class is similar. I often wish the teacher would cover less complex grammar, as our foundation is quite weak. Without a solid base, advanced grammar can be hard to grasp. After all, grammar is something that often needs to be felt rather than just explained.
However, what reassures me is that I am making progress, bit by bit.
