When your heart is bright, the world is not dark; when your mind is calm, the universe is in order; when your heart is joyful, youth never ages; when your spirit is strong, hardships are smooth roads; when your mind is pure, the lotus blooms in the mud.
Wisdom brings no trouble, and compassion knows no enemies. If one can practice great compassion and take a step back to allow for harmony, where would conflicts arise? If you can empathize with others and believe that everything exists for a reason, where would troubles come from? To act like a ghost is to be a ghost; to act like a human is to be human; to act like a Buddha is to be a Buddha.
Filial Piety: On the surface, it is being good to parents, but in reality, it is planting seeds of merit for yourself; on the surface, it is a repayment, but in reality, it is an investment; on the surface, it is providing material enjoyment, but in reality, it is sowing seeds of blessing for yourself; on the surface, it is something done with hands, but in truth, it must be done with the heart; on the surface, it is settling the body and mind of parents, but in reality, it is saving your own soul!
Desire and attachment are the elements that cause us suffering. When these two are eliminated, we can almost certainly be happy and at ease.
