After Molly got promoted, she remarked during a meal, "I finally understand what 'walking on eggshells' means. There's a crowd behind you constantly looking for flaws, making it impossible to make even a single mistake."
She works at a company owned by her uncle. Although she tried her best to stay low-key and insisted on starting from the bottom, rumors eventually leaked about her connection to the boss. Consequently, gossip spread—some claimed she climbed the ladder through connections, others said she lacked real ability, and some even labeled her a "spoiled heiress."
"They say I rely on connections, but our department deals with clients, not internal company matters. Even if I did have connections, I couldn't use them to reach the clients," Molly once said in frustration.
"When I was working overtime, they were all resting. When I was traveling for work for a month, exhausted and sun-tanned, they were enjoying the air conditioning in the office. While I was staying up late to draft plans, they were watching shows and partying. Some people simply refuse to see your hard work; as soon as you achieve something, they attribute it to connections. They hover around you like shadows, just waiting for you to fail."
After a year in management, Molly decided to move to a better platform. Interestingly, after her departure, the company promoted a young woman who had only been with the company for two years.
"I knew this would happen," Molly said. "Others didn't focus on their work; they spent all their time trying to find fault with me or complaining about unfair company policies. Such people can never be promoted. That girl, however, has consistently worked hard. With her current skills, she could easily hold her own even if she left."
When a person focuses too much on others, they lose themselves. Those trapped in prejudice fail to see the merits in others and miss the opportunity to learn.
They dig deep pits of resentment and suspicion on their own life path, only to settle at the bottom of those pits instead of moving forward. By living only to criticize others, they end up hollow and filled with bitterness.
Your journey is long. Don't just focus on the obstacles; focus on the path ahead.
