A carpenter was renowned for his exquisite craftsmanship in making doors. He crafted a door for his own home, believing that with high-quality materials and fine workmanship, it would surely last a lifetime.
As time passed, a nail rusted and a wooden board fell off. The carpenter simply found a new nail to fix it, and the door seemed as good as new. Soon after, another nail came loose, and he replaced it. Later, another board broke, so he replaced it with a new one. Eventually, the latch broke, and he simply replaced the latch...
Years later, despite numerous damages, the door remained sturdy thanks to the carpenter's meticulous repairs. The carpenter took great pride in this, thinking, "If it weren't for my skills, I wouldn't know what to do when the door breaks."
One day, a neighbor remarked, "You are a carpenter; you should take a look at your own door!" Upon closer inspection, the carpenter realized that while his neighbors' doors were modern and of superior quality, his own door was old, worn out, and covered in patches. He finally understood that his reliance on the skill of "patching things up" had actually hindered the progress and development of his own door.
