Although I do not possess the legendary beauty that could sink fish or make the moon hide, I believe I am beautiful because I have a kind heart.
As a child, innocent and naive, I believed that physical attractiveness was the only true form of beauty. However, as time passed and the tides of years washed away the traces on the sands of my memory, my sense of aesthetics gradually changed...
I remember one day, while playing at home, I suddenly heard a "flap-flap" sound coming from the window. "What is it?" I cried out in fear, wondering if it were a thief. But it was broad daylight; no thief would be so bold. Gathering my courage, I tiptoed toward the window. As I carefully pulled back the curtain, I saw a small bird fluttering by the window, unable to fly. I wondered if it was injured. I gently pushed the window open, reached out my small hands, and carefully lifted the bird onto the table. Acting as its doctor, I used a magnifying glass to examine it and discovered that its leg was injured. I brought some disinfectant to clean the wound and found gauze to bandage it. At first, the bird seemed frightened and kept retreating, unwilling to let me help. To show my sincerity, I placed some cracker crumbs on the table and stepped back a few paces. The bird seemed to find a sense of security; it approached the crumbs and, once sure there was no danger, began to eat peacefully. At that point, I approached again, but the bird was no longer afraid. We worked in harmony: the bird stayed still while I applied the disinfectant and wrapped the gauze. For a week, I carefully tended to its wound and changed the bandages. Eventually, the bird's injury improved. When I removed the gauze and placed it on the windowsill, I felt a deep sense of reluctance to let it go, yet the bird looked at me with an expression that seemed to convey its gratitude. However, I knew I had to let it return to the embrace of nature, as that was the greatest help I could offer.
I released the bird. It flapped its wings and took flight. At that moment, I watched it soar into the blue sky, the golden sunlight illuminating its fluttering feathers and shining upon me as well. Looking at my shadow on the ground, I felt truly beautiful. This act of heartfelt kindness allowed me to see my own inner beauty. Only beauty of the soul can bestow an elegant aura and provide a true sense of aesthetic enjoyment!
