What is life? Why do we live? What is the meaning of our existence? Life is like fireworks in the night sky—beautiful yet fleeting. We live to face setbacks and to experience that fleeting yet eternal joy. The true meaning of life is often found in the lessons we learn during the most bitter or sweetest moments of our lives.
Courage is the sunlight of life; hope is the sunlight of life; love is the sunlight of life. When confronted with setbacks and suffering, people often look to miracles for support. But what do we do when miracles no longer come? Some people choose to run away because they are unwilling to face reality; others retreat because they cannot bear the contempt in others' eyes; still others hide because they are tired of hearing sarcasm and ridicule. However, some view these challenges as trials sent by heaven and face them bravely, while others rely on their own courage to achieve success.
Nick was born with a rare disease that left him without limbs, relying on his two tiny "chicken feet" to manage his daily life. His physical disability once led him to contemplate suicide at the age of eight. Yet, he eventually used those feet to accomplish many things that others considered impossible. He learned to write, type on a computer, answer the phone, throw a ball, and even swim. At the age of twenty-one, he earned a university degree and began speaking around the world, sharing the resilience of life.
Pain and setbacks are trials bestowed upon us by heaven. Do not give up or run away when you encounter difficulties. "Instead of cursing the darkness, light a candle." If miracles disappear, use your courage, dreams, and hope to light another candle. Push open another window for yourself and seek a different path.
