The long-awaited sports meet finally kicked off this morning, with the campus filled with the students' uncontainable joy.
The playground was initially so quiet that one could hear a pin drop, but it quickly turned into an ocean of joy, drowned out by the students' cheers. The ceremony began with the opening procession, where the color guard waved bright flags and the band played spirited music. Following this, the athletes marched past the podium in neat rows, their steps steady and proud.
Next, the competitions began. It was our turn for the 400-meter race. We stood on the starting line, adjusting our breathing, waiting for the starting gun. With a sharp crack, the race began instantly. However, due to a slightly slow reaction, I hadn't fully settled into the rhythm before being left far behind by the other runners. Refusing to give up, I sprinted like an arrow loosed from a bow, quickly overtaking several competitors, though I still couldn't pass the four students ahead of me. With the finish line in sight, I gritted my teeth and pushed my body to the limit, finally overtaking the fourth-place runner at the last moment. Nevertheless, the top three runners were still faster, crossing the line before me. The results were announced: I finished in fourth place. Although missing the podium was a bit of a pity, my teacher smiled and said, "Great job!" Those words helped me regain my confidence.
This year's sports meet was truly vibrant and unforgettable!
