Some people believe that life can be treated casually, adopting a "play around the world" attitude and wasting their years. However, this is a cynical and irresponsible way of approaching life. Life teaches us that every moment is an "exam," and we should face each one proactively.
Throughout our growth, we encounter countless extraordinary examinations. Midterms, finals, entrance exams, and college entrance exams—these academic tests are merely tools to verify our mastery of knowledge. While we must approach them with care to improve ourselves, many neglect the "exams" found on the path of life. They adopt a carefree attitude, believing that since life is long, there is no rush to consume it, or that life is too full of troubles to bother with. This attitude is a negligence of life itself. They use "gambling youth for tomorrow" as an excuse for complacency, using "gambling" as their creed for facing the future, and living life aimlessly. Consequently, they leave regrets on life's answer sheet and appear lost in the arena of time. A Polish proverb says: "There are two ways to live: to rot, or to burn." Unfortunately, many choose the former.
Yet, many more choose to "burn." They deeply understand that life is precious and that living means fighting. Because we only have one life, we cannot afford to be mediocre. Just as Marx worked tirelessly until his final moments, Lu Xun continued to write just days before his death, and Zhu Kezhen recorded temperatures with trembling hands even while critically ill. In their final moments, they were still burning and fighting. On the exam of life, they cherished every moment, making the most of every second. Life is not a short-lived candle, but a torch we hold temporarily; we must make it burn brightly so that its glow remains forever. Those who play at life choose to rot, while those who strive choose to burn. Faced with the same questions, they submit vastly different answers!
Life is an endless series of exams; from the moment we become social beings, the tests have begun. The God of Destiny hands us blank exam papers and tells us: "Do your best, fill every page of your life, and complete it until the very end."
The stage of life is colorful, and exams are everywhere. Do not overlook small matters, and do not be indifferent to tasks that require only a moment's effort, for we are the masters of our own destiny. There is a profound story about a Japanese company recruiting employees. After several rounds of screening, only three candidates remained—all highly educated graduates from prestigious universities. The company informed them that the final decision would be made after further discussion. A few days later, one candidate received an email stating she was not selected, but the email included a discount coupon for the company's products as a gesture of thanks. Instead of being discouraged, she spent just two minutes sending a brief, sincere thank-you email. A week later, she received a call informing her that she had been officially hired. She soon realized this was the company's final "test." While the other two candidates also received coupons, she was the only one who replied. Her success was won in those two minutes of gratitude.
Life is an endless series of exams. Every step we take, whether in success or failure, is an examination that tempers our will and talent. It serves as a constant reminder to tread carefully through life. May you walk with determination and achieve brilliance in every step of your journey.
