Deep in the mountains, a stone lay lonely for a long time. It harbored a dream: to fly through the sky like a bird one day. When it shared this aspiration with its companions, it was immediately met with ridicule. "Look, this is what they call 'aiming too high'!" "Pure fantasy!"... However, the stone ignored the gossip and continued to hold onto its dream, waiting for the right moment.
One day, a wise man named Zhuangzi passed by. Knowing this man possessed extraordinary wisdom, the stone shared its dream with him. Zhuangzi said, "I can help you realize it, but you must first grow into a great mountain, and it will require immense hardship." The stone replied, "I am not afraid."
Thus, the stone absorbed the spiritual essence of heaven and earth and accepted the nourishment of rain and dew. After countless years of weathering storms and trials, it finally grew into a majestic mountain. Then, Zhuangzi summoned a giant Peng bird to strike the mountain with its wings. Suddenly, the earth shook and the heavens trembled. After a thunderous roar, the mountain shattered, and countless stones soared into the sky. In that very instant of flight, the stone smiled with contentment.
But before long, it fell from the sky, reverted to its original form, and landed back in its former place. Zhuangzi asked, "Do you regret it?" The stone replied, "No, I do not regret it. I have been a mountain, and I have experienced the joy of flight!"
Reflection: A person's life is like this stone; the beginning and the end may be the same, but the journeys taken are vastly different. If one sets high goals, they must be prepared to exert more effort and sweat. Even if the ultimate goal is not fully realized through all-out struggle, one has at least traveled further and seen more than others. As Abraham Lincoln concluded from his life's experience: The height of a fountain in nature will not exceed its source, and the achievements a person can attain will not exceed their beliefs.
