An old man on a high-speed train accidentally dropped one of his newly purchased shoes out of the window. While the surrounding passengers felt deep pity, the old man surprised everyone by immediately throwing the second shoe out as well. He explained, "No matter how expensive this shoe is, it is no longer of use to me. If someone can find the pair, they might actually be able to wear them!"
Wisdom: Successful people are adept at letting go and finding value within a loss.
II. Don't Look Through the Wrong Window
A little girl leaned on the windowsill, watching people bury her beloved puppy, and burst into tears of grief. Seeing this, her grandfather quickly led her to another window to admire his rose garden. Sure enough, the little girl's mood instantly brightened. The old man lifted her chin and said, "Child, you were looking through the wrong window."
Wisdom: By opening the window next to failure, you may find hope.
III. The Secret of Life
Thirty years ago, a young man left his hometown to forge his own future. His first stop was to visit the tribal elder to seek guidance. The elder, who was practicing calligraphy, heard that a younger member of the tribe was starting his life's journey, so he wrote three words: "Do not fear." Then, looking up at the young man, he said, "Child, the secret of life consists of only six words. Today, I will tell you three, to serve you for half your life."
Thirty years later, the young man had reached middle age. Having achieved some success, he had also encountered much sorrow. On his long journey home, he went to visit the elder once more. Upon arriving, he learned the elder had passed away years ago. His family handed him a sealed envelope, saying, "This was left for you by the elder; he said you would return one day." The traveler remembered the half-secret he had heard thirty years ago. He opened the envelope, and there, written in large characters, were three more words: "Do not regret."
Wisdom: Before middle age, do not fear; after middle age, do not regret.
IV. The Driver's Test
A large company was looking to hire a driver with a high salary. After multiple rounds of screening and testing, only three highly skilled candidates remained. The examiner asked them, "There is a piece of gold near a cliff. If you are driving to get it, how close to the cliff can you get without falling off?"
"Two meters," said the first. "Half a meter," said the second confidently. "I will stay as far away from the cliff as possible," said the third.
As a result, the company hired the third candidate.
Wisdom: Do not struggle against temptation; instead, stay as far away from it as possible.
V. The Education of Lions and Antelopes
Every day, as the sun rises, the animals of the African savanna begin to run.
A lioness tells her cub, "Child, you must run faster, even faster. If you cannot outrun the slowest antelope, you will surely starve to death."
On another field, an antelope mother tells her cub, "Child, you must run faster, even faster. If you cannot outrun the fastest lion, you will certainly be eaten."
Wisdom: Remember, no matter how fast you run, someone else is faster.
