People must eat three meals a day, and clothing must change with the four seasons; food, clothing, housing, and transportation are all essential—this is reality. To sustain life, people must work and labor in an orderly fashion; this is the reality of life. Yet, people are not merely satisfied with reality. Once basic needs are met, there arises a longing, an expectation, and a hope—that is, dreams.
Seeking tirelessly through rugged paths, smiling lightly amidst flowers and applause, being neither swayed by external things nor saddened by oneself, and forgetting both honor and disgrace—only with such detachment can one achieve a life that is ordinary yet extraordinary.
Humility requires a foundation of competence; without capability, where is the confidence to be humble? Arrogance is often the result of a frog in a well, unaware that there are always people greater than oneself and heights beyond one's reach.
