Everyone aspires to success, yet the path toward it is often long and difficult. What sustains us along the way is persistence.
Persistence is an essential support for climbing the peak of success.
No matter what situation we face, we should never give up easily, because success may be just around the next corner. Even a tiny seed can grow into a towering tree under the nourishment of firm belief.
There was a story about French journalist Jean-Dominique Bauby, who suffered a heart attack that left him completely paralyzed and unable to speak. The only part of his body he could still move was his left eye. Before his illness, he had already conceived a book but had not finished it. Even so, he was determined to complete and publish it. A publisher arranged for an assistant named Claude Mendibil to help him record his work for six hours a day.
Since Bauby could only communicate by blinking, they developed a special system: the assistant would read out the most common French letters in sequence, and Bauby would select letters by blinking. Because everything relied on memory and selection, errors were frequent and progress was extremely slow. At first, they could complete only one page per day, later gradually increasing to three pages. After months of arduous effort, they finally completed the work, titled The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, which contains 150 pages. It is estimated that Bauby blinked more than 200,000 times to finish the book.
As long as a person persists in their goal, nothing is impossible. What we often call miracles are simply the result of day-to-day perseverance and hard work. No matter what happens, never give up, because as long as you keep going, success will always remain possible.
