Youth is a symbol of vitality, filled with wisdom, courage, and willpower. With these qualities, we gain the courage to overcome fear and the boldness to take on challenges. Youth fills us with expectations for the future, allowing us to face life’s challenges bravely and enjoy the journey of competition in life.
As the saying goes, youth is extremely important. It is the sky at fifteen, the blossoming season at sixteen, the colors of seventeen, a beautiful blend of flowers and sunshine.
However, in reality, we are often overwhelmed by endless assignments. A moment of carelessness can lead to poor exam results, followed by criticism from parents and teachers, as well as enrollment in various tutoring classes such as math, Chinese, and biology. Faced with all this, we often can only accept it passively. Adults often say that since parents have worked hard to raise us, we should repay them with excellent academic performance. Yet while focusing on parents’ efforts, our own stress and struggles are often overlooked. From the moment we are born, we are placed under heavy expectations, which can sometimes feel exhausting.
In addition, some parents focus too much on academic performance while neglecting the development of life skills. Some children have never done housework, not because they are lazy, but because whenever they try, they are told, “Just focus on studying; you don’t need to do chores.” This kind of upbringing leads some students to struggle with independent living when they enter boarding school. For example, one of my friends is quite dependent on her family. She is not very skilled in washing and organizing clothes and often has to bring them home on weekends. However, her academic performance remains around the middle level.
