Stepping through the gates of Xinyu No. 1 Middle School, my heart was filled with nervousness. Middle school life was waving goodbye, while high school life was beckoning me. I thought about how wonderful and perfect my middle school years were, and I kept imagining the high school lives of my seniors—those years of both hardship and joy.
Now, I am officially a high school student. I didn't expect high school life to be so exhausting and intense. I was assigned to Class 1 of Grade 10, the elite class of Xinyu No. 1 Middle School. I thought an elite class would be characterized by a tense, study-focused atmosphere, but that wasn't quite what I found.
While the academic atmosphere in class is quite strong, it can sometimes get a bit noisy. Since I sit at the very back, I occasionally find it difficult to see or hear clearly.
Even though I sometimes find myself asking others questions in class, and although my current grades are not the best, I am determined to study hard.
It has been many days since the military training ended. During those three days, I learned patience and focus. The short period of military training was both exhausting and frustrating, a feeling much like studying—sometimes it feels dull and tedious, making my mind wander during class.
I am gradually adapting to high school life, but I still need to fully adjust. I will work hard to adapt and strive toward my goal of getting into university!
