Footprints of Life
In the Bible, there is a story: a man dreamed that he was walking along the beach with God. After a long journey, he looked back and noticed that sometimes there were two sets of footprints in the sand, while at other times there was only one. He asked God, “Dear Lord, you promised to walk with me throughout my life. Why is it that when I am doing well, there are two sets of footprints, but when I am in despair, there is only one? Why did you leave me when I needed you the most?”
God looked at him with infinite love and replied, “My child, I have never left you. When you were doing well, I walked beside you, giving you strength and courage. And when you were in your greatest difficulty, I carried you and held you, which is why there was only one set of footprints in the sand.”
