A junior investment banker once asked what investment banking was. A senior colleague presented him with some bruised fruit and asked, "How do you plan to sell these?" After thinking for a while, the junior replied, "I would sell them at a discount based on the market price." The senior shook his head, took a knife, peeled and sliced the fruit into a beautiful platter, and said, "Like this, you can sell them at dozens of times the price."
Whether joyful or sorrowful, all things eventually become part of the past. Life is full of ups and downs and busy pursuits; though we may forget much, we must never forget sincerity and conscience. Regardless of poverty or disappointment, always treat others with a genuine heart. No matter how wealthy or successful one becomes, Never lose their moral compass. Not every devotion leads to a perfect ending, and not every encounter blossoms into a beautiful landscape.
"Samatha" is the meditative method of quieting turbulent thoughts and allowing the mind to rest in a state of tranquility; "Vipassana" is the process of realizing the true nature of the mind. Whether practicing "Samatha" or "Vipassana," the most important thing is knowing how to settle the mind—to stay relaxed, open, and effortless. The goal of meditation is not to achieve a state of no-thought, but to no longer be disturbed by thoughts.
