A shepherd drove his sheep to graze and found that his sheep were mixed with wild goats. Seeing the wild goats were well-fed and strong, the shepherd's greed arose, and he wanted to claim them as his own. In the evening, he herded the wild goats along with his own sheep into the pen. The next day, a storm hit the prairie, and the shepherd could only feed them in the pen. He gave his own sheep limited feed, but to win over the wild goats, he piled much more feed for them. After the storm, when he drove the sheep back to the pasture, the wild goats climbed the hills and escaped. The shepherd blamed them for being ungrateful. The wild goats replied, “Precisely because of this, we must be cautious. You cared more for the sheep that arrived yesterday than those that have long been with you. Clearly, if other wild goats come in the future, you will favor them and neglect us.” This story illustrates that People who are fickle and favor the new over the old cannot be trusted. Remember, if you cannot treat others sincerely, you will lose all your friends.
