Meanwhile, many without such talent achieve fame and success. Given that we all carry our heads on two shoulders, why are our life paths so vastly different?
The wise are characterized by their broad-mindedness and tolerance. Because they understand the world and human nature, they can see deeply, think openly, and let go. They have discovered that yielding a step in social conduct is a mark of wisdom, and retreating is essentially advancing; being kind to others is a blessing, and benefiting others is the foundation of benefiting oneself. The benevolent are tolerant: "Treat the elderly as your own, and the young as your own." They do not demand excessively of themselves or others. Compared to those who are narrow-minded and suspicious, tolerant people naturally possess more popularity, happiness, and longevity. To be tolerant is to win the hearts of people.
Live with mindfulness, rather than with anxiety or worry. A confused mind leads to suffering, while an enlightened mind leads to freedom. A kind heart is heaven, and an evil heart is hell. If one's concepts are incorrect, they cannot achieve righteous work; if concepts are biased, their actions will be flawed. One should learn to remain unshaken by the trials of life and find inner tranquility amidst the constant movement of the world.
The Chinese character for "life" (生) is composed of "ox" (牛) and "one" (一), implying a life of diligent labor like an ox. Life is full of dialectics: being busy at work means you are not unemployed; failing in competition means you still have ambition; experiencing heartbreak in love means you are still pursuing; and straying from the path means you are still moving forward. The most unfortunate life is living in unhappy memories; the most unscientific life is living within bad habits; the least ideal life is repeating past mistakes; and the most desperate life is burying one's own ideals.
Sometimes, one feels an inexplicable low mood, not wanting to speak to anyone and just wanting to stare blankly alone. Sometimes, in the dead of night, it is not insomnia, but a stubborn refusal to sleep. Sometimes, a song plays, and suddenly someone comes to mind. Sometimes, when someone tells you, "I feel you've changed," you are overcome with complex emotions. The self that was lost can only be slowly recovered over time.
Learn to smile at life and let life illuminate your journey. Never frown at life; instead, embrace youth, gain experience, and enrich your life story. Only after experiencing true youth can one turn toward a focused world to feel grounded and find peace of soul. Only through focus can the mind reach true maturity.
