Simplicity is the calmness and composure within, a refusal to demand too much from life. Life has success and failure, gatherings and partings; no one is privileged enough to control everything. The impossibility of having both fish and bear's paw is a reality of life. A mature person faces imperfection with equanimity, neither forcing nor obsessing—doing one's best and accepting fate. Pursuing perfection is an ideal, but accepting imperfection is a beautiful mindset.
Some see themselves as the protagonists of life, some as supporting characters, and others as mere spectators; but those strong enough to defy fate see themselves as the directors. The wisdom of the wise lies in using the various mirrors of life's appearances to analyze, adjust, and perfect themselves.
