A student asked the Zen master, "Master, how can I control my emotions and avoid getting angry?" The master replied, "Deeply believe in cause and effect, and confusion will vanish. All grievances arise from causes and effects; without confusion, there is no anger. Getting angry is like drinking poison and expecting others to suffer." — Leave space in your heart; do not let resentment fill it. Anger punishes yourself for others' mistakes, while tolerance encourages you through others' achievements.
