Teaching Objectives:
In terms of knowledge and ability, students are expected to read the text correctly, fluently, and with emotion, and to be able to retell the story by grasping the main process of Xu Beihong's journey in learning painting. Regarding process and method, students should gain an initial understanding of the text's structure and learn how to segment the passage. In terms of emotional attitude and values, students should be inspired by Xu Beihong to establish patriotic goals from a young age, study hard, and strive to bring glory to the country in the future.
Teaching Focus: Clarify the logical structure and summarize the text according to the sequence of cause, process, and result.
Teaching Difficulty: Feel Xu Beihong's patriotism and understand his firm determination through the study of this text.
Teaching Aids: Small blackboard, wall charts, introduction to Xu Beihong's life and his paintings, and famous quotes or mottos of patriotic heroes.
Teaching Duration: Two periods.
First Lesson Process:
The lesson begins with a masterpiece introduction to stimulate interest. First, the wall chart "Running Horses" is displayed. Students are asked about the painting's quality, its artist, and why Xu Beihong achieved such mastery, guiding them to find answers within the text. Then, the title is revealed. Students read the title together, paying attention to the character "励" in "励志." Through questioning, students learn to distinguish between "励志" (inspiring/motivating) and "立志" (making an ambition). "励志" means to motivate oneself to work hard to achieve a goal. Since Xu Beihong's ambition was to become a painter, driven by his patriotism and the desire to bring honor to the Chinese people, the use of "励志" in the title is more appropriate.
