Although Zhuangzi wrote "Xiao Yao You," he understood that all things have their dependencies. True freedom is not merely having wings to fly with the wind, nor transforming into a fish to leap in the vast ocean, nor simply changing form to soar in the high sky. Everything is interconnected; all things coexist. We exist within the worlds of others, just as others exist within ours.
Things. Without support, mountains cannot form continuous ranges; without support, water cannot swell into oceans; without support, dust cannot settle on the earth; Without support, flowers cannot bloom in their fleeting glory. The world created by the Creator is infinite, yet our senses are limited. The mysteries of nature are beyond our grasp; what we admire is simply the principle of mutual creation and restraint.
It is said that heroes often face solitude, walking alone under the setting sun, yet they can still find solace in the wind, the rain, and the magnificent landscapes surrounding them.
Nations. There are nations, and then there are families. As the wheels of history roll and the river of time flows, "The desolate autumn wind blows once again, changing the world." Since ancient times, those who win the hearts of the people win the world. Monarchs rely on the people to achieve their ambitions; even in death, their names are etched in the earth. Through countless rises and falls of dynasties, "The wind blows desolately, and the Yi River is cold; the brave warrior departs and never returns." Strategy and terrain cannot overcome the will of the people. The rise and fall of a nation depend on the people's support.
Humans. In infancy, we rely on the care of our parents; in adulthood, we rely on the roles provided by society; in old age, we rely on the support of our children. If a person were left entirely alone in the world, what connection would they have to sustain life?
Reliance is a sweet emotion. Relying on parents brings peace of mind; relying on friends ensures we are not alone; and being someone others can rely on gives us a sense of purpose.
Like a chariot with its wheels or lips and teeth, everything is interconnected. All things coexist. Interdependence is a necessity of natural law; it provides not only survival but also a profound sense of happiness.
