We should be grateful to every friend in our lives, for they enrich our every day. Let us say thank you for the companionship of the past, ask for help for the future, and wish for eternal friendship with those who stay by our side for a lifetime.
Seeing this situation, Dou Gu ordered his subordinates to withdraw the soldiers from one exit, leaving only the other side open. The subordinates were puzzled: "General, the enemy is surrounded; even with wings, they couldn't escape, let alone a mere few hundred men! In a few days, we could annihilate them. Why let them escape?" Dou Gu replied, "It is not to let them escape. Now that they have no retreat, they will fight desperately. Moreover, the valley is lush with vegetation and water; they won't starve. If we prolong this, even if we win, our casualties will be heavy. Thus, I release them to strike them down during the pursuit."
A person's greatest pain is not the inability to see clearly, but the inability to be "muddled" or let go. Being clear requires intelligence, but being able to embrace ambiguity requires wisdom. Ultimately, living life is about cultivating wisdom. A clear-headed person knows what they want, whereas someone who thinks they know everything often wants everything. One may lack clarity, but one must not lack awareness. Let the heart appreciate the journey rather than wither away in struggle.
Human experience is limited; life is a continuous process of learning. Yet, as knowledge and experience accumulate, we begin to rely on fixed mindsets, view new things with prejudice, reject new experiences based on past patterns, and cling to tradition instead of exploring the world, letting the spring of new knowledge flow away in vain.
No matter how wealthy or capable you are, never look down on anyone, for there will always be those stronger than you. Do not be complacent with your current achievements, for society is constantly evolving. The wealthy today may not remain so tomorrow, and the poor today may not stay so forever. The world changes, and so do we. Regardless of how the world shifts, I hope we never lose our humility toward others.
