Befriend virtuous people and avoid unrighteous friends; drink tea of tranquility and avoid wines of temptation; open doors of kindness and close the mouth of controversy. Too many doors invite the wind, and too many words bring disaster. Life flows like water; do not cling to fame and wealth. Live simply and follow the natural course, and Do not strive excessively for prosperity and glory. "Desire" is the mark of poverty. When one is content, the mind is at peace; when one seeks nothing, one achieves nobility. The greatest vice is speaking ill of others, and the greatest folly is being unable to accept one's own faults. Even if you have done good for others, do not expect praise or reward; even if fate is harsh, do not extinguish the lamp of hope; even if insulted, do not harbor resentment; even if you achieve success, do not become self-satisfied; even if you suffer injustice, do not let it dampen your spirit.
Only after walking the path do we realize its ups and downs. We are often too busy, too busy to feel life and enjoy happiness. We struggle and chase throughout our lives, but even if we please the whole world, it is ultimately our own soul that feels wronged. If we are never satisfied and cannot let go, we make a beautiful life bitter. Be more open-minded and let things go; after all, few things in life are more important than happiness.
Believe firmly in karma: good is rewarded with good, and evil with evil; if there is no immediate retribution, it is merely because the time has not yet come. Therefore, even if I encounter people who hate, envy, slander, or even harm me, I am unwilling to retaliate. I believe that "one reaps what one sows" and that natural causality exists, so why should I harm others? I only feel pity for their heavy karma and shallow roots of goodness; I only feel ashamed of my own lack of virtue that I cannot help them.
