I am a sensitive person, easily moved by the delicate fragrance of apricot blossoms, the vibrant pink of peach blossoms, the allure of pear blossoms, the elegance of locust flowers, and the bright gold of rapeseed flowers.
These sights often lead me to drift back to the memories of Jiangnan.
The waters of Jiangnan are crystal clear, like a mirror or a beautiful eye, shimmering and emerald, with boats gliding like shuttles. Looking out, the scenery is vast: smoke rising in the distance, moonlight stretching for miles, sunlight dancing on the water, and still shadows sinking like gems.
The sky in Jiangnan is a brilliant blue, vast and cloudless. Scattered white sails dot the water amidst rippling waves, with majestic green mountains standing in the distance. The mountains seem solid, the water like jade, the clouds like mist, and the moonlight like a painting. When the weather shifts, the waves drive the boats swiftly; in the crisp autumn air, lonely herons fly with sunset clouds, and the autumn water merges with the vast sky. The colors of Jiangnan are so breathtakingly beautiful that one cannot help but lose themselves in them.
The rain in Jiangnan is exquisite—falling in droplets, strings, or sudden bursts, like silken threads or sweet dew. For nearly half the year, Jiangnan is bathed in rain, which nurtures its softness, cultivates its grace, and paints its beauty.
The sentiment of Jiangnan is intense, burning like fire and deep as blood. Once you have lived in Jiangnan, its essence becomes part of your very being. No matter where you go, the mere thought of it brings an irresistible longing. Jiangnan purifies the soul; a single glance is as refreshing as sweet dew. The white walls, black tiles, small bridges, flowing water, gentle breezes, soft whispers, and beautiful figures—all these define Jiangnan. Jiangnan is wonderful; the scenery is a long-remembered dream.
Jiangnan is beautiful, but the Jiangnan in my heart is even more so. It has merged with my life, tucked away in a place only I know—at the very center of my heart.
Since I have chosen Jiangnan, I shall remain inseparable from it, staying with it for a lifetime without regret.
