Setbacks are not punishments, but opportunities to learn.
During his doctoral studies, Kai-Fu Lee achieved outstanding academic success. By utilizing statistics, he significantly improved speech recognition rates, and his doctoral dissertation was published in an international journal, stunning the US tech community. As a star student, his life at Carnegie Mellon University seemed flawless, until a summer course presented him with a significant setback. In the summer of 1983, Lee took a summer job teaching computer science to 60 of Pennsylvania's brightest high school students. He thoroughly enjoyed this period, dedicating himself to lesson planning and developing various teaching methods. However, upon receiving his salary and reading student evaluations, he discovered students felt his teaching was "like a lullaby." This feedback was a heavy blow to him.
Nevertheless, Lee did not lose heart. Instead, he embraced failure as an opportunity to learn. This mindset led him to success; in his subsequent career, especially after returning to China, he delivered thousands of speeches, a feat largely attributed to the practice and lessons learned during his student years.
