A learned man once met God and asked indignantly, "I am a man of great knowledge, why have you not given me the opportunity to become famous?"
God replied helplessly, "Although you are knowledgeable, you only scratch the surface of many things without diving deep into any. How can you hope to become famous?"
Hearing this, the man began to practice the piano intensely. Although he later became a master of the instrument, he still failed to gain fame. He went to God again, asking, "God, I have mastered the piano. Why will you still not grant me the chance to be famous?"
God shook His head and said, "It is not that I do not give you opportunities, but that you fail to seize them. The first time I secretly helped you enter a piano competition, you lacked confidence. The second time, you lacked courage. How can you blame me then?"
After hearing God's words, the man practiced for several more years until he built up his confidence and gathered the courage to compete. He performed exceptionally well, but due to the unfairness of the judges, the opportunity for fame was taken by another.
Devastated, the man said to God, "God, I have given my all this time. It seems destiny has decreed that I will never be famous."
God smiled and said to him, "In fact, you are very close to success; you only need one final leap."
"A final leap?" he asked, his eyes wide in surprise.
God nodded and said, "You have already received the ticket to success—setbacks. Now that you have obtained it, success will come to you as a gift from those setbacks."
This time, the man kept God's words close to his heart, and indeed, he achieved great success.
