People hold various attitudes toward money. Some would rather suffer personal loss than lose money, while others would rather lose money than suffer personal loss. Some fear losing wealth and feel secure only when holding it tightly, while the most extreme are those who sacrifice their lives for money.
A disciple asked a Zen master, "Master, how can I control my emotions and avoid anger when things happen?" The Zen master replied, "Believe deeply in karma, and you will not be lost in confusion. All grievances stem from karma; without confusion, there is no resentment. To be angry is like drinking poison oneself and hoping that others will suffer."
The envious fear that others' achievements will surpass them, so they attempt to suppress or disparage those successes. However, those with ambition achieve results that far exceed others, leaving the envious to bow their heads in shame and sigh.
Youth is often filled with melancholy, teaching us to feel deeply during this season. If life is peaceful, nurture your body and mind; if life is dark, embrace the trials. The greatest confusion in life is not being misunderstood by others, but not understanding oneself.
Some people have an inner world so small that it contains only themselves. Such individuals refuse to compromise or settle; they spend their lives striving for a breakthrough within their hearts, resolutely seeking another version of themselves in this world.
There are rotten woods at twenty and evergreen trees at eighty. What we do not know is not necessarily unhappened, and what we do not understand is not necessarily non-existent. The most important thing in life is not effort but choice, and choice must precede effort. The bottom of a cup is not hell, but the final destination after life has exhaled its fragrance. The end of one life often heralds the beginning of another. The ripples of life are felt through ups and downs, and its meaning is interpreted at its ultimate destination.
Life is like a journey, not about seeking a destination, but about experiencing the scenery along the way. No matter how much wind and rain one faces, as long as one can move forward, that is life. Life passes in the blink of an eye, half forgotten and half joyful. "In all my life, there are no other matters; through the years, it is all about a touch of fate."
