In my heart, Jane Eyre is a perfect and magnificent work. Through this book, I have come to understand the distinctions between good and evil, beauty and ugliness, and learned how to live a meaningful life. The protagonist, Jane Eyre, is my role model; her intelligence, kindness, strength, and independence are truly admirable.
Jane Eyre's life is filled with joys and sorrows. Although she has encountered numerous setbacks and hardships—and her journey could be described as unfortunate—she never bowed to fate, and she never feared any difficulty.
Raised by her aunt, Jane suffered much abuse. Her cousin, John Reed, was a bullying and unruly boy who treated her cruelly. Instead of stopping him, her aunt supported his barbaric behavior. However, Jane is a resilient person who refuses to yield to evil. When her anger overcame her fear, she stood up to John, though she ultimately faced punishment from her aunt as a result.
In contrast, Helen Burns holds a different perspective, advocating for forbearance. Her tolerance, patience, and magnanimity are deeply inspiring. I especially love Helen's words: "Life is too short to spend it on hatred and resentment." If we can all remember this—to understand, empathize with, and care for others, and to look for the beauty in life with an optimistic attitude—our lives will surely be filled with sunshine.
After reading this book, I realize that the road ahead will not always be smooth. Life is not always easy, but only by bravely facing difficulties and setbacks can we overcome them and eventually reach the shores of success.
