An elderly Jewish man was deeply passionate about golf. One Sabbath, he felt an irresistible urge to play. However, religious laws strictly forbid all forms of entertainment on the Sabbath. Unable to suppress his longing, he decided to sneak out and play in secret. Unexpectedly, despite his precautions, an angel witnessed his actions. The angry angel reported this to God, who decided to impose a "small punishment" on him. From that moment on, the old man's golf skills became extraordinary, improving rapidly. Eventually, he became so skilled that he broke all the records held by the world's top professional golfers. Watching the man's exuberant celebration, the angel asked God in confusion, "He violated the religious laws and should be punished, so why are you rewarding him?" "I am indeed punishing him. Just watch," God replied with a smile. The angel could only watch and wait. Sure enough, before long, the once-excited man began to suffer. He felt a desperate need to share his miraculous experience, yet he could not speak of it, for he had broken the sacred law. "With such incredible achievements, he must be thrilled and will certainly long to tell someone. But because he cannot, the resulting isolation is his true punishment," God explained. It turns out that the inability to share joy with others is a truly cruel punishment. Whether it is joy or sorrow, Emotions require the understanding and companionship of others. When joy cannot be shared, its radiance gradually fades; whereas, pain that is borne alone only multiplies.
