When geese rest, one always keeps watch, known as the "sentinel goose." They take turns, and at any sign of danger, they cry out to warn the flock. Once, a hunter attempted to catch them several times without success. He eventually devised a plan: he would run directly toward the flock and hide only after the sentinel goose cried out. After several failed escapes, the flock turned their anger toward the sentinel goose, eventually pecking it to death. The sentinel goose could only grieve in silence; when the hunter approached again, it remained silent, resulting in the deaths of half the flock. Life is much the same: the loyal are often misunderstood, and the unyielding are often overlooked.
Be a practical and wise person. If you were not born into wealth and do not have the life of a prince or princess, do not indulge in their brand of melancholy. You may not have the luxury of gazing at the stars or wallowing in depression; instead, you must strive and carry the weight of family and daily life, rather than wasting time on complaints and grievances. No one owes you anything. Do not compare yourself to characters in fairy tales; only by being strong within can you face reality with composure.
Live with intention, rather than merely worrying or being troubled. A confused mind brings suffering, while an enlightened mind brings freedom. Kindness is heaven, and malice is hell. If your mindset is flawed, your endeavors will fail; if your perspective is biased, your actions will be misguided. One must learn to remain steadfast amidst life's trials and maintain inner peace amidst the chaos.
A father once asked his son to jump from a table. The boy was afraid, but the father promised, "I will catch you." The boy jumped, but the father did not. He taught him: "Never blindly believe everything people say; instead, see if they can actually follow through." A few days later, the father again asked the boy to jump, promising to catch him. This time, the father did catch him, saying, "Remember, your parents are always your support."
Life is a journey of endurance where we must learn to support ourselves. When loved ones leave, no amount of grieving can bring them back; life is inherently full of partings. When rumors fly, no amount of explanation may suffice; the world is full of ups and downs. When successful, good things come in waves; when downcast, everything seems to fade away. Do not take yourself too seriously; frustration, helplessness, and tears are all essential parts of your life.
Only true inner tranquility can lead to lasting peace. Inner peace is not like stagnant water, but like a calm ocean that nurtures new waves. It is not like a lifeless stone, but like a tree that grows tall and strong in silence. At the turning points of life, we encounter different people and landscapes; though brief, these moments are worth remembering.
Life is a mirror: if you smile, it smiles back; if you cry, it cries with you. Therefore, it is better to move forward with a smile and grow old gracefully. May the tranquility of the years stay with you, like a gentle smile on your lips.
Perhaps we often try to forget, yet find ourselves reminiscing, as love and hate intertwine like silk. We can only marvel at the passage of time, pressing unforgettable memories deep within our hearts. Much like a cup of bitter coffee, joy and sorrow, longing and loneliness, are all authentic parts of the human experience.
Do not stop seeking spring because there is no sunlight, and do not forget to grow because there is no rain. Do not abandon your pursuit because there is no song, and do not lose your ideals because there is no applause.
