Xu Tu, a "90s-born" student from Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, started her business with just 6,000 yuan. After two years of hard work, her monthly turnover has reached around 6,000 yuan. Her success serves as a model for many college students who face limitations in capital, ability, and experience. She proves that by finding the right niche based on individual strengths, one can carve out a new path.
Known for her casual style—often seen in short hair and T-shirts—Xu Tu is quite well-known on campus, where classmates affectionately call her "Boss Xu."
Her entrepreneurial journey began with a modest savings of 6,000 yuan. Since her freshman year at age 17, Xu Tu has gained significant social experience through various part-time jobs, including distributing flyers, selling milk, working as a credit card agent, and assisting with tea art training certifications. Driven by her dream, she initially considered opening a franchised restaurant, but the high franchise fees were out of her reach. Consequently, she decided to enter a lower-barrier industry and chose to open a women's clothing store in her hometown, Xuanwei.
Taking decisive action, she leased a shop for 350 yuan per month, paying an upfront rent of 2,100 yuan. To save money, she handled the renovation herself. She spent only about 700 yuan on supplies such as rope, latex paint, a second-hand counter, lighting, hangers, and mannequins. With the remaining 3,000-plus yuan, she purchased her first batch of inventory and hired a staff member. In just one year, this small shop generated a profit of 20,000 yuan.
