On the afternoon of March 25, our school held a "Gratitude and Inspiration" speech event. The guest speaker was Mr. Xue, who traveled all the way from Beijing.
Yesterday, our teacher informed us to bring our parents and small stools. We weren't sure what the event was about, so we simply followed instructions.
At 1:35 PM today, parents began to arrive. I waited for my mother, but she hadn't arrived by 1:35. Feeling anxious because I had upset her the previous day, I even feared she might not come. As I was talking to myself, I was surprised to see my mother getting off a bus. Overjoyed, I grabbed her hand and hurried to the school. Once there, I gave her my stool and took my seat as the event was about to begin.
The speech began, and Mr. Xue spoke with great passion and eloquence. The presentation covered three main themes. First was "Gratitude to Our Motherland." Through this, I understood the growing strength of our country and realized that as Chinese citizens, we must contribute to our nation and become useful members of society. The second theme was "Gratitude to Teachers." I realized how much hard work teachers put in, often sacrificing their own health for our growth. To repay them, We should listen to their guidance, complete our assignments, and maintain discipline in class. The third theme was "Gratitude to Parents." I learned how much effort it takes to raise a child. Parents often give us everything they have, while we sometimes respond with disobedience. In the future, I want to help more with household chores and become a responsible person.
This speech event moved me deeply and will stay in my memory forever.
