"Detachment" is the counterpart to "excessive sweetness." If one fails to balance the "degree" between the two, friendship may be stifled. A friendship between gentlemen, though physically distant, is connected in spirit; the friendship of small-minded people may seem intimate, yet their hearts remain estranged. Gentlemen say what should be said and do what should be done; small-minded people say what the friend wants to hear and do what they themselves desire.
Students are not passive recipients of knowledge, but the active subjects of learning through questioning, discussion, and discovery. When students have a fundamental understanding of knowledge but encounter doubts, teachers can stimulate their curiosity and motivation through guidance and inspiration, which is far more effective than simply forcing information upon them.
In modern society, many parents fall into educational misconceptions. In many nuclear families, children are treated as precious gems, with every need catered to and everything done for them. If parental indulgence robs a child of the ability to care for themselves, it is not true love. Real love means teaching children essential skills and fostering their independence for their long-term well-being.
