Once you see through things, you understand how to act; once you see through human relations, you understand how to coexist. To see through things may lead to apathy; to see through relationships may lead to a desire to withdraw from society. Therefore, as long as you act with intention, simply accept the rest. It may be difficult to ignore the words of others, but remember: the mouth belongs to others, but life belongs to yourself. Happiness is a pure and natural product—a gift from your own self-support and affirmation.
Young women should not easily reveal their tastes, for taste reflects character, just as art reflects the artist. If a young woman seeks to please others through her tastes, she ends up merely pleasing herself. From an aesthetic perspective, this is why pretentious gestures can be off-putting, whereas natural charm, such as a woman's shyness, is always most endearing.
Life is filled with joy and sorrow, gain and loss. Gain and loss constitute life; joy and sorrow constitute our days. We often strive and pursue amidst uncertainty; we may not cherish what we gain, nor regret what we lose. Do not pray for fate or rely on others; the confusion of life must be experienced personally.
Life is never perfect. If you realize you have made a mistake, start over. If others will not forgive you, you can forgive yourself. Never try to cover one mistake with another.
Stagnant water breeds no fish, and a withered tree bears no flowers.
It is not tragic to be aware of your confusion; the real tragedy lies in being unaware of it.
