Master Cheng Yen said: "Good deeds should be done in a timely manner, and merit should be sustained. It is just like boiling water; if you extinguish the flame before it reaches the boiling point, it will be a great task to start over."
A simple handshake or an unintentional smile can grant you the diamonds of life. As the saying goes, "The fragrance of the rose lingers on the hand that gives it." Kind words can warm for three winters, while harsh words can chill for six summers. The fierce glare of a Vajra is not as profound as the gentle gaze of a Bodhisattva. Learn to appreciate and respect others. One should possess a mind as vast as the ocean and a character as towering as a thousand-foot cliff. With feet on the ground, waves rise from the sea; with shoulders, one carries the sorrows of past and present! Remain unperturbed by glory or disgrace, watching the clouds roll and unroll in the sky; stay unmoved by wealth or poverty, observing the flowers bloom and fall in the courtyard. Life is full of hardships; only by overcoming them can one embrace the spring of life!
Life is inherently full of ups and downs. Through the vicissitudes of time, one experiences many rises and falls. It is because of life's regrets that we have longings, dreams, and pursuits. Do not fear setbacks or avoid troubles. Only when we learn to look up at happiness from the height of our regrets can we collect bits of joy!
Those who understand know how to let go; those who love sincerely know how to sacrifice; and those who are happy know how to transcend. When we possess, we may be in the process of losing; when we lose, we may be in the process of gaining anew.
Is it a special feeling? No, it is just a lingering attachment in my heart. I fold a hidden love into a soaring paper kite. If this kite were to gain a soul and become a bird in the sky, I believe it would spread its beloved wings, fly across the vast ocean, and come to your window to rest and knock. And when that time comes, it will surely be in the height of spring.
