There are many reasons for failure, and everyone has their own interpretations. But remember, disappointment is a form of failure. If we stop striving, we will miss out on even the best opportunities. Zhuge Liang once said, "A gentleman's conduct lies in cultivating oneself through tranquility and nourishing virtue through frugality; without indifference to fame and wealth, one cannot clarify their aspirations; without tranquility, one cannot achieve greatness." I have always loved the phrase "tranquility leads to far-reaching vision." Indeed, serenity allows us to see further, but achieving true inner peace is no easy feat. Forgetfulness is our inevitable destiny; all past events are like misaligned blueprints. The past cannot be reclaimed. As time flows, everything gradually drifts apart. Perhaps, what is lost is meant to be forgotten. Life is like the splendor of a blooming flower or the solitude of a falling leaf, eventually returning alone to the dust. The realm of self-discipline is this: no heavy reward without merit, no great gift without help, and no great wealth without ability. People move upward, and water flows downward. Only by climbing higher can we see further; only with clear goals can we find our direction in life. In every detail of our lives—whether eating, sleeping, gardening, or feeding fish—there is Dharma. Every trivial aspect of daily life can be infused with spiritual wisdom.
