He accepted my exaggerated praise with great delight, leaving his former modesty far behind. Sitting together as a family for a warm meal, I realized that life's simplest joys are the purest, and home will always be the warmest sanctuary because it is filled with love.
As time passed, I drifted away from my mother and my childhood home.
