Failure is the mother of success. Life is not always smooth, and setbacks are inevitable. What matters most is not to be discouraged by failure but to learn from it and strive towards success through perseverance.
During the first semester of my fourth-grade year, our school held a collaborative arts festival, which included a jump rope competition. Since I had never practiced jump rope before, I was quite worried, but I didn't give up and practiced every day. After countless falls, I finally mastered the skill and even won a prize in the school competition!
Last Sunday, my father bought a bicycle for my brother and me, and we were thrilled. At dawn, I asked my mother to teach me how to ride. She told me, "Sit on the bike, I'll hold it from behind, and you just pedal forward slowly." It sounded easy, but it was actually quite difficult. I started to ride, but I fell down almost immediately. I kept getting up and trying again, but the handlebars seemed to have a mind of their own, always veering to one side and causing me to crash again.
I felt extremely frustrated and wanted to quit. Seeing my mood, my mother encouraged me, saying, "It's normal to struggle at first. You're almost in fourth grade; you can't let a little bump hold you back." I realized that failure truly is the mother of success. I decided to keep trying—once, twice, three times... through constant practice, I gradually became proficient. After riding quite a distance, I thought my mother was still holding me, but she was actually standing in place, shouting to me, "Xinggang, you've done it!" I smiled with great joy.
No matter what we do, we should remain humble in victory and undeterred in defeat. As long as we can rise from failure, we will eventually achieve success!
