I used to live a foolish life. Although I always longed for a new and better life, I never took action, as if eating, drinking, and sleeping could indefinitely postpone death. For years, like many others, I believed the only worthy pursuit was to attain the wealth, fame, and power of royalty. I made a massive mistake, and now I understand: Wise people do not set grand and useless goals. They keep their plans—which others call dreams—hidden deep within their hearts, where no one can see or mock them. Instead, every morning, they plan only for the day ahead; every night, they rest only when they are certain the day's objectives are met. Before long, the achievements of each day accumulate, one after another, like ants building a tower from grains of sand. Eventually, a castle rises, capable of housing any dream. In fact, once I master my impatience and complete my plans step by step, achieving my dreams will not be difficult. I can do it, and I will do it.
