"Ren" (person) is easy to write, but human affairs are complex. Perhaps the most difficult problem in the world is the problem of human nature. Humans are not livestock that can be coerced or driven by force; we are individuals endowed with thought and independent personality, and our will should not be trampled upon. As the saying goes, "A scholar can be killed but not humiliated." If one's will is unyielding, no amount of force can shake it. Those in power must treat others with dignity, and those in subordinate positions must maintain their integrity. In fact, those who fail to treat others as human beings often lose their own human dignity.
