When the mind generates a need or desire for certain material things, especially when the desire far exceeds actual necessities, this is desire. People driven by desire often struggle and fight hard for it, while those without strong desires live calmly, enjoying their circumstances as they come. Pursuing material enjoyment and wealth is a natural human tendency. Desire gives us the drive and momentum needed to set and achieve life goals. It is not inherently wrong; however, whether intentionally or inadvertently, if we allow the abyss of desire to expand, our lives will ultimately be consumed by the mere notion of filling that void.
Desire is dual in nature. On one hand, it can be beneficial, providing life with purpose and dreams, acting as a guiding light. On the other hand, it can be destructive, leading to an endless abyss. Having one million, one might crave ten million; having ten million, one might chase mansions and luxury cars. Even with a beautiful face, one might still seek a perfect body. In reality, it is humans who nurture and enlarge their desires because they cannot break free from their allure, choosing not to enjoy their current happiness but instead pursuing infinite desires, striving to meet the deep standards they set for themselves. The crucial question is: do you truly understand and value what you already possess in the present moment?
