After school, the students happily said goodbye to each other on their way home. As I walked into the village and approached my doorstep, a scene caught my eye—an elderly man in his sixties, not very tall and wearing a white coat, was walking with a limp. A distance that takes others only seconds took him several minutes, or perhaps even longer.

I watched him silently as he walked along the pebble paths in the park. Some children cast unkind glances at him, but he simply smiled and shook his head, saying, "What a group of mischievous children!"

The next day, I saw him again walking on the pebble road. The gentle breeze made the scene seem unusually peaceful. Suddenly, he tripped and fell. Startled and anxious, I rushed over to help him up. He thanked me and then limped away, seemingly reluctant to let me witness his moment of vulnerability.

That evening, that figure appeared once more: leaning on his crutches, he was struggling to reach a mailbox over two meters high. For a person with disabilities, accessing such a high mailbox is no easy task. I took the keys from his hand, stood on my tiptoes, and fetched a stack of newspapers to hand to him.

He said nothing, but his eyes were filled with gratitude. He struggled to hold back his tears, tucked the newspapers under his arm, and left. He likely went to a corner to weep, yet he never complained about his hardships; instead, he chose to face life with courage.

In life, the small steps you take to help a person with disabilities can help build a sense of faith within them. Caring for the disabled is essential, as They need our warmth in every moment of their lives.
