Every person who loves life should carry sunshine with them, not the wind.
True love is as this poem states: “How many love your youthful, radiant beauty, but only one loves your holy soul, and the painful wrinkles on your aging face.”
To live the life you desire, you must have the courage to give some things up. This world is not perfectly just, and you will never achieve a perfect balance. If you want freedom, you must sacrifice safety. If you want leisure, you cannot achieve success as measured by others. If you want joy, you need not calculate the attitudes of those around you. If you want to move forward, you must leave where you currently stand.
Emptiness is not being devoid of everything; reducing reliance on material things allows you to see the infinite treasures within your heart. Many people are burdened by family and career, often feeling suffocated, and thus try to relax by traveling abroad. However, relying solely on travel to alleviate sorrow is not the best solution. Perhaps, by simplifying your life, the weight on your mind will naturally decrease.
Many things are only understood after they have been experienced. Just like in love, only after pain do we learn how to protect ourselves; only after being foolish do we learn when to persist and when to let go. In the process of gaining and losing, we gradually come to know ourselves. In fact, life does not require such futile persistence; there is nothing that truly cannot be let go of. Learning to let go makes life easier.
Instead of gazing at the distant future, focus on the tasks at hand and make today a happy and fulfilling one, for today is the only reality.
